Australia to provide aid to agricultural sector

Australia will give technology and fund to local farmers of the Ayeyarwady region and the dry zones including Mandalay, Sagaing and Magway regions.
Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and Australia Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) will sign MoU to implement the project in this month.

ACIAR and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) will cooperate to give technical assistance and departments under the ministry will work together with them. Each of the project spans will be four year long and will provide US$6 million.

The ACIAR is providing technical aid to business related with agricultural, paddy production livestock and fisheries, animal food and socio-economic of the farmers.

They aimed to provide technical assistance to develop in agricultural sector during the implementation of the project and also planned to implement agricultural research.

The AusAID will train people who have been chosen for the research. It is intended to give the outstanding trainees for further study such as diploma and Ph.D courses in Australia.
