Mandalay Cement Industries Co., Ltd. Business Description
Mandalay Cement Industries Co. Ltd. formerly known as Yon Shine Cement Industries Co, Ltd. started in 1994 as a pilot project. It joined SPA Group in May 2002.
Given the brand name of Nine Elephant, the company used to produce 40 to 60 tons of cement per day. The company used the traditional technology called Vertical Shaft Kiln (VSK) for production. After 4 years of significant experience with VSK, the company migrated to build a new plant using the latest German invented "Dry Process" technique, which includes 5-stage pre-heaters, Central Computer Control System to control each production process, and other advanced equipments etc.
The construction of the first line cement factory commenced in January 2002 and the production output was targeted to produce 250 tons per day. The new line is located just right beside the old VSK plant, Mandalay.
The new line commenced for commercial run on 21st of April 2004 after the first test run was successfully carried out in August 2003. The plant is now qualified to produce variety of ISO standard products, ranging from 425N, 435R, 525 and 525R etc. according to the requirement of the customers.
One of the core competences of the company is its high quality products. Total Quality Management System (TQM) is adopted in all production processes in order to ascertain the quality of the cement. Each process of the production is assessed and tested accurately by the laboratory department on an hourly basis. The company is proud of having a laboratory according to the ISO standard which is equipped with the most advance technologies and equipments, as well as some of the best experts in the country to manage the department. Furthermore, the Quality Control department grants permit to sell the products only after many standard assessments. The company's competitive advantage also relies on the well experienced and fully trained employees in areas of administrative, technical and operational functions. The readily established market from the old brand Nine Elephant also contributed to the product's competitive edge.
